What is Lip Filler
Lip filler is a gentle way to add definition, hydration and a little more volume, while keeping your lips looking like yours. We plan the shape around your natural features so the result feels balanced rather than obvious.
Everything begins with a consultation. We talk through what you would like to change, check that the treatment suits you, and agree on an approach before we start. Some swelling in the first day or two is normal and settles quickly.

What to expect

We start by talking through what you would like to change, and look at your lip shape, proportions and natural lip line. We go over your medical history to check the treatment suits you, and agree on the approach and how much to place before anything is done.

A numbing cream is applied first, then the filler is placed through a series of small injections along the lip. Most people describe it as brief pressure or pinching rather than sharp pain. Your appointment is 60 minutes, with time to check the shape as we go.

Some swelling and tenderness in the first day or two is normal, and small bruises are possible. It helps to avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for the first 24 hours, and to keep the area clean. Problems are uncommon, but please ring us straight away if you have pain that gets worse rather than better, unusual paleness or dusky patches around the lips, or any change in your vision. We will talk you through aftercare, and how to reach us, before you leave.

Most people find it uncomfortable rather than painful. A numbing cream is applied before we begin, and the lips are a sensitive area, so you may feel brief pressure or a pinching sensation. Tell your practitioner at any point if you need a pause.
It varies from person to person. Lip filler is temporary and softens gradually, and how long it lasts depends on the product used, how much is placed and how quickly your body breaks it down. Lips move a great deal, so filler here tends not to last as long as it does in firmer areas of the face. Your practitioner will give you a realistic idea for the product they use at your consultation.
Swelling is usually at its most noticeable in the first 24 to 48 hours and settles over the following few days. Lips generally look settled at around two weeks. A gentle cold compress and avoiding heat and alcohol in the first day can help.
Downtime is minimal and most people carry on with their day as normal. Your lips may look swollen or feel tender for a day or two, so it is worth bearing that in mind if you have something on. If you have an event coming up, leave at least two weeks so everything has settled.
Lip filler starts from £150, and your appointment is 60 minutes including the consultation. The final price depends on the plan we agree together, and we will always confirm the cost with you before we start.
It is generally not carried out during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or when there is an active cold sore, infection or inflammation in the area. Some medical conditions, medicines and allergies also matter. Suitability is assessed properly at your consultation, and we will tell you honestly if it is not right for you.
