Skin Rejuvenation
Microneedling
Improves skin texture and tone over a course of sessions.
What is Microneedling
Microneedling creates a controlled, very fine stimulus in the skin that encourages it to repair and renew. Over a course it can improve texture, tone and the look of scarring and open pores.
Redness for a day or two afterwards is normal and part of how it works. We will explain the aftercare and how many sessions are likely to suit your skin.
Benefits
- Improves texture, tone and the look of scarring
- Redness for a day or two is normal
- Works best over a course
Every treatment starts with a consultation. Results vary from person to person, and we will always be honest about what is realistic for you.
What to expect
-
We look at your skin and talk through what you would like to improve, whether that is texture, tone or overall clarity. We check that microneedling suits you and flag anything that might mean waiting, such as an active breakout in the area. There is no pressure to go ahead on the day.
-
Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is usually applied first and left to take effect. A fine-needled device is then passed over the area, which most people describe as a prickling or light scratching feeling rather than pain. The session runs 45 to 60 minutes including preparation.
-
Your skin will look flushed, a little like mild sunburn, and this usually settles within a day or two. For the first 24 hours keep things simple: no make-up, no exfoliating acids, no gym or sauna. Use a gentle moisturiser and daily sun protection, and we will send you home with written aftercare.
-
Skin often looks brighter once the redness has settled, but changes in texture and tone build gradually as your skin renews itself over the following weeks. Microneedling is usually planned as a course rather than a one-off, and we will review your skin and agree the spacing with you.
Frequently
asked questions
Everything you may want to know about microneedling before your visit.
Most people find it very manageable. A numbing cream is usually applied beforehand and left to take effect, and the sensation is more of a prickling or scratching than a sharp pain. It can feel more noticeable over bony areas such as the forehead, and any discomfort usually settles once the session ends.
Most people do. Expect mild redness for one to two days, similar to light sunburn, and we usually ask you to leave make-up off for the first 24 hours. If you would rather not be seen flushed, book later in the day or before a quieter day.
Skin often looks fresher within the first week once redness has settled. Improvements in texture and tone build more gradually as the skin renews over the following weeks. Results vary from person to person, and we will be honest about what is realistic for your skin.
Microneedling is normally recommended as a course rather than a single session, with a gap of a few weeks between appointments. The right number depends on your skin and what you are hoping to improve, so we agree a plan at your consultation. Each session is £125 and takes 45 to 60 minutes.
For the first 24 hours avoid make-up, exfoliating acids and retinoids, hot showers, saunas, swimming and the gym. Keep the skin clean, moisturise gently and wear sun protection every day while it recovers. You will be given written aftercare so you are not left guessing.
It is not carried out over an active skin infection, cold sore or inflamed breakout in the treatment area, and it is not usually offered during pregnancy. Certain skin conditions, medications and healing difficulties also need checking first. Bring any health details to your consultation and your practitioner will advise whether it is right for you.
