What is Profhilo

Profhilo is a skin treatment that delivers deep hydration and helps improve firmness, tone and glow. Rather than adding volume, it works to improve the quality of the skin itself.

It is usually carried out as a short course for the best effect. We will explain the recommended plan at your consultation so you know exactly what to expect.

Benefits

  • Improves hydration, firmness and glow
  • Improves skin quality, not volume
  • Usually a short course

Every treatment starts with a consultation. Results vary from person to person, and we will always be honest about what is realistic for you.

What to expect

  1. We start by looking at your skin and talking through what has been bothering you, whether that is dryness, a loss of firmness or a dull look. We check that Profhilo is a sensible option for you, answer your questions and agree a plan together before anything goes ahead.

  2. Profhilo is placed through a small number of injection points on each side of the face, which is why the appointment takes around 30 minutes. Most people find it quick and easily tolerated, and you may notice small raised bumps at each point straight afterwards.

  3. Those small bumps usually settle within a few hours as the product spreads through the skin, and occasionally take up to a day. Leave the area alone for the rest of the day and skip make-up if you can. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, heavy exercise and very hot showers for about 24 hours.

  4. Profhilo works gradually, so any change in hydration, firmness and glow builds over the following weeks rather than appearing at once. It is usually done as a short course, and we will review your skin before advising on further sessions. Results vary from person to person.

Frequently
asked questions

Everything you may want to know about profhilo before your visit.

Most people find it very manageable. It is placed through a small number of injection points rather than lots of tiny ones, so the treatment is over quickly, and you may feel a brief sting at each point. If you are nervous about needles, tell us at your consultation and we can talk through ways to keep you comfortable.

Many people find the effect lasts for a few months once a course is complete, but this varies from person to person and depends on your skin, your age and your lifestyle. It is not permanent, and most people choose to repeat it to keep the improvement going. We will give you a realistic idea at your consultation.

Profhilo works gradually rather than instantly. Hydration tends to be noticed first, with any change in firmness and tone building over the following weeks. We would rather you expect a steady improvement than an overnight difference.

It is usually done as a short course rather than a one-off, with sessions spaced a few weeks apart. The right number for you depends on your skin and your goals, so your practitioner will recommend a plan at your consultation. Each session is £180 and takes around 30 minutes.

Downtime is minimal. You may see small raised bumps where the product was placed, and these normally settle within a few hours. Most people carry on with their day straight away, although we would suggest leaving make-up off for the rest of it.

No. Dermal filler is used to add volume or change shape in a specific area, whereas Profhilo is used to improve the quality of the skin itself, including hydration, firmness and tone. Some people have both for different reasons, and we can explain the difference properly at your consultation.
